Superabrasive grinding wheels made of diamond or cubic boron nitride (CBN) abrasive have been widely used in various aspects of grinding because of their excellent grinding performance. Diamond grinding wheel is a special tool for grinding hard alloy, glass, ceramics, gemstones and other high hard and brittle materials.
In recent years, with the rapid development of high-speed grinding and ultra-precision grinding technology, higher requirements have been put forward for grinding wheels. Ceramic and resin-bonded grinding wheels can no longer meet the needs of production, and metal-bonded grinding wheels have been widely used in production because of their remarkable characteristics such as high bonding strength, good formability and long service life.
Metal bond diamond grinding wheel according to different manufacturing methods mainly have two types of sintering and electroplating. In order to give full play to the role of superabrasive, foreign countries began to develop a new type of grinding wheel with high temperature brazing process in the early 1990 s, that is, single-layer high temperature brazed superabrasive grinding wheel. At present, this kind of grinding wheel is still in the research and development stage in China.
